Seven Seas Grandeur

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur - Our Opinion

(5/5)
Our short voyage on Seven Seas Grandeur was simply magical.

Regent is one of our preferred cruise lines; we cruise with them whenever possible, as in our opinion, the whole Regent experience from beginning to end never disappoints.

We would not hesitate to recommend this ship to cruisers who prefer small ship, All-Inclusive Luxury.

Introduction

We were so pleased to have been invited to join the Seven Seas Grandeur on a preview voyage from the shipyard in Ancona, Italy, to Trietste a few days before paying passengers were due to board the ship and the ship was to be christened with Sarah Fabergé as Godmother. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the final touches being made on this impressive new ship. Regent Seven Seas Cruises has always been one of favourite cruise lines as their offering is truly All Inclusive and the culinary options in our opinion are some of the best at sea.

The beautiful Seven Seas Grandeur accommodates up to 746 guests across 373 luxurious suites.

Accomodation

We were on deck 8 Port side midships in a Concierge Suite 848 Category D. With a suite size of 30.8 sq metres and a large private balcony of 12 m2; this was a gorgeous first experience of Seven Seas Grandeur.

Our suite had a large European King-Sized Elite Slumber bed with lovely Egyptian bed linen, ensuring a good night’s sleep. The bed faced outwards, looking out onto the generous balcony, which houses two recliner chairs and a table large enough to accommodate a room service breakfast while sailing. The area between the bed and living area can be divided by curtains if desired.

In the main living area of the suite, there is a sitting area with a comfortable 2-seater sofa and an array of cushions, plus a writing desk/vanity area with plenty of drawers for storage and a magnifying makeup mirror. The drawers have paper liners, which shows that details have been thought about. Suitcases, as per usual, are stored discreetly beneath the bed.

A round table is adjacent to the settee, perfect for taking advantage of room service for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

The cabin’s decor is contemporary, enhancing the relaxing atmosphere of this delightful suite.

A state-of-the-art interactive 40-inch Samsung flat-screen offers a good selection of free TV channels, movies, and music, as well as the cruise director’s daily program, which is available on demand. You can also monitor your onboard account and view the daily cruise program. You will also find information on Destination services, Entertainment/Enrichment, Serene and Spa Wellness options. The Tv also provides access to your onboard account plus bar and restaurant menus. In the glass cabinet, along with glasses, there is a pair of binoculars, handy for those moments when you are trying to identify something out of eye reach.

There is a fridge that contains beers, lager, and soft drinks. A coffee machine is available, but sadly, there is no kettle for tea. This is no problem, as room service will happily rustle one up for you on demand in your suite.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship, and limits do apply to the number of devices that can be connected as part of the all-inclusive offering. These can be upgraded for a small fee. Seven Seas Grandeur features Space X Starlink Satellite connectivity, which seemed to be reasonably fast. We measured the download speed at 3.5mb/s.

Pleased to say there is no more hanging of cards on the door to let your suite attendant know if you want your room making up or you are not to be disturbed. Now in the suite there is a control on the wall which allows you to adjust the suite temperature and to alert your attendant whether you are not to be disturbed or require your suite attendant to service your room. This shows up on lights outside your stateroom incorporated within your suite number. Very clever.

The veranda or balcony is spacious with two reclining chairs and cushions, plus a table large enough to have room service breakfast/lunch or dinner to enjoy whilst sailing or to just sit back and enjoy th eincredible views

Ensuite Bathroom

As you enter the suite, to the right there is a fabulous en suite bathroom – a double vaniry sinks in marble, masses of storage and shelves, a large shower with a rain head attachment, toilet AND a bath. These days it is rare to have a bath with the suite, usually just a shower, but a bath does provide relaxation, rather than a means of getting oneself clean. The baths have grab rails, for those times when the seas may be a little choppy.

We puzzled what purpose the bar in the shower was at foot height. Turns out it is a foot rest for those who wish to shave their legs whilst in the shower – intersting addition and we wonder who thought of this?

To add to the luxurious nature of the bathroom, several fluffy white bath, hand towels and flannels were provided with two white bathrobes and two pairs of slippers. An array of L’Occitane toiletries, soaps, shower caps, make up remover pads and ear buds were available for use. A full length mirror is useful as well as an oversized mirror over the twin sinks.

Storage Space

Adjacent to the en suite bathroom is a large walk in closet/wardrobe area which also houses the eye level safe, big enough for all your valuables and passports etc. we counted a total of 21 drawers in the suite and closet for storage, enough for a 7/10/14 day or world cruise.

There is yet another large full length mirror in the corridor by the suite entrance door to double check you are looking your best before you meet “your public”!!!

Conclusions

As you can probably tell, we are big fans of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. We love the Explorer class ships, Seven Seas Splendor, Seven Seas Explorer, and now Seven Seas Grandeur. The all-inclusiveness of the Regent offering is second to none, and we particularly love the style, elegance, and design of the public spaces onboard.

The Suites are perfect for us, and with amazing dining venues, Seven Seas Grandeur ticks all the boxes for us. Will we return – yes most definatley.
