Introduction to Oceania Vista

Join us as we explore Oceania Cruises’ Vista — a luxurious, artfully designed ship that’s redefining premium cruising. From elegant dining venues to hidden lounges and wellness spaces, discover the best-kept secrets of this extraordinary Allura-class vessel.

We weren’t quite sure what to expect from our first cruise with Oceania Cruises. Known for their impeccable food and attentive service, Oceania’s reputation set the bar high — and we were eager to see if it lived up to the hype. We were also keen to see if their “Finest Cuisine at Seas” mantra was true.

Our journey aboard Oceania Vista, the line’s newest Allura-class ship, turned out to be full of surprises — some grand, some subtle, but all beautifully crafted. From its stunning atrium to hidden wellness corners, Vista truly embodies the spirit of Oceania’s strapline “Your World. Your Way.”

📦 Pre-Cruise Delight: Before we even boarded, Oceania impressed us with a thoughtful pre-cruise package — a personal letter from the Chief Luxury Officer, a comprehensive guide to the ship, and personalised luggage tags. A small but elegant touch that instantly set the tone for what was to come.

Oceania Vista at a Glance

Though smaller in scale compared to mega-ships, Vista’s boutique size adds to its intimate, upscale ambience — although we felt at peak times, it can feel a touch crowded.

Oceania Vista Atrium 1
Oceania Atrium 2

Embarkation on Deck 5 reveals Vista’s signature “wow” moment — the Grand Staircase, a sweeping spiral of marble encircling a glittering crystal pillar. The Atrium, with its soft lighting and luxurious finishes, sets a sophisticated tone for the voyage ahead. A good start to our cruise!

Nearby, you’ll find the Reception Desk, Concierge Services, Destination Services, and Boutiques — all seamlessly integrated into this stunning central hub. Art deco influences lend a nostalgic yet modern touch throughout.

Dining Highlights on Deck 5: Ember & Red Ginger

Oceania Ember 1

EMBER Speciality Restaurant

Oceania Ember 2

Another View of EMBER

Ember

A new addition to Oceania’s culinary lineup, Ember serves up American classics with a Napa Valley vibe. While we appreciated the concept, the décor felt a little dated, and the atmosphere leaned toward casual, perhaps too much so for a speciality dining venue. Still, it was included in our fare, and some dishes were clear crowd favourites. Since we experienced Ember, we understand that it has now been replaced by ‘Jaques’, which is a signature restaurant on other Oceania ships.

Red Ginger

Stepping into Red Ginger feels like entering another world with mood lighting, sleek black and red décor, and an unmistakable Asian flair. Known for its shareable plates and bold flavours, it’s ideal for couples or adventurous eaters. It’s one of Vista’s most refined dining spaces and a must-try on board. We found this to be the most popular restaurant on Oceania Vista, which made it difficult to get a booking.  We only managed one in 10 days, even though we booked online early.

🍽️ Stay tuned for our upcoming “Vista Dining Guide” video for detailed reviews of every restaurant onboard.

Entertainment & Lounges: The Heartbeat of Vista

Vista Lounge Seating

Vista Lounge

Forward on Deck 5, the Vista Lounge hosts the ship’s main entertainment, including production shows, live music and comedy. Plush purple seating and a glamorous silver palette make this space feel upscale, though seating rows can feel a bit enclosed.

Deck 6 Lounges & Bars

Martinis Bar: A timeless classic, perfect for evening cocktails accompanied by a live pianist.

Grand Lounge: With its gold accents and soft lighting, this feels like a private club at sea. The classical string quartet performing here nightly added a touch of elegance.

Founders Bar & Casino: Stylish and lively — the casino, inspired by Monte Carlo, comes alive at night.

Wonderful choice of food

At the aft of Deck 6 lies the Grand Dining Room, and it’s every bit as spectacular as the name suggests.
Bright, white, and open, with sweeping arches, chandeliers, and touches of glass that catch the light beautifully. It’s grand, yes, but not overwhelming.

We loved the mix of tables for two and larger groups, plus the thoughtful service that made every meal feel personal. Breakfast and lunch were relaxed, but dinner was truly special.

Despite seating up to 475 guests, clever design keeps it intimate. For the best window seats, arrive early — those two tables with ocean views are highly sought after!

We thought the Grand Dining Room was one of the best main dining rooms on any ship we have sailed on. The ambience was perfect, the food was impeccable, and the service attentive and of a very high standard.

Our Stateroom: Deck 9 Concierge Veranda

Oceania Vista Veranda Suite

Ocenia Vista Veranda Suite 2

Ensuite Shower Room

Decks 7 through 11 are dedicated to staterooms and suites. We stayed in a Concierge Level Veranda Stateroom on Deck 9, which we found comfortable, refined, and well-appointed.

Our Concierge Level Veranda Stateroom offered a perfect balance of comfort and sophistication. The neutral palette, thoughtful lighting, and spacious balcony created a calm retreat from the busier public areas.

As Concierge guests, we also had access to a private lounge, which is open 24/7 with coffee, snacks, and a dedicated concierge available during set hours. It’s a great perk, especially for longer voyages.

💡 Tip: Each deck has a very handy self-service laundrette, though Concierge guests get complimentary laundry service.

Deck 12: Outdoor Living at Its Finest

Oceania Vista Pool Deck

Oceania Vista Pool Deck

Oceania Vista Wave Grill

Waves Grill

This is where we think Oceania Vista truly shines.

Pool Deck

The Pool Deck feels like a chic beach resort with natural woods, cushioned loungers, cabanas, and a spacious heated pool flanked by hot tubs. Add a Waves Bar and Waves Grill, and you’ve got one of the best poolside setups at sea.

Waves Grill

Casual American fare by day; Neapolitan pizzas by night. Always busy and no need to book.

Terrace Café

A top-notch buffet with indoor and outdoor seating, which was always buzzing but never chaotic. The food was always of a high standard, with a huge choice from the self-service stations. There was sometimes an issue finding somewhere to sit inside, but the alfresco outdoor seating areas were always available.

Aquamar Kitchen

A wellness-inspired gem serving smoothies, power bowls, and light lunches, which became one of our favourite daytime venues. We particularly loved the smoothies, avocado toast, and light, wellness-focused fare.

Deck 14: Learning, Lounging & Fine Dining

Horizons Lounge

Up front of the ship, the Horizons Lounge delivers panoramic sea views and is the ideal spot for afternoon tea or sunset cocktails. Afternoon tea is served daily at 4 p.m. with live classical music, though we found it slightly underwhelming compared to the rest of the Oceania experience.

This is an excellent option if you have missed lunch or don’t feel like having a heavy dinner. Afternoon tea is a must-do for us, and it’s a very civilised way to while away the end of the afternoon. Always a treat to have Scones with Jam and Cream!

Creative Corners

Nearby, you’ll find the LYNC Digital Centre for photography and tech classes, the Artist Loft for hands-on art workshops, and the Culinary Centre, where you can cook under the guidance of expert chefs (a must-do for food lovers!).

Toscana & Polo Grill

Two dining venues we absolutely adored:

  • Toscana – Elegant Italian dining on Versace china, with an olive oil cart and Tuscan-inspired dishes that feel authentically regional. This is our favourite restaurant on Vista, but you must book. Again, we could only make one reservation in 10 days.

  • Polo Grill – A classic steakhouse serving 28-day aged Black Angus beef and Lobster and other grill specials. Try the Surf and Turf for a real treat. With its private-club atmosphere, this is another popular speciality restaurant where you must book. We found the food in the Polo Grill to be okay, but not really living up to the hype

Between them sits Privée, a stunning private dining room for up to eight guests, which is ideal for celebrations or wine-paired dinners.

Wellness Above All: Decks 15 & 16

For those seeking rest and rejuvenation, the Aquamar Spa & Vitality Centre on Deck 15 is pure bliss. It features serene treatment rooms, saunas, and a relaxation area. There is also a fully equipped fitness centre to help you stay in shape during your cruise. The adjacent Aquamar Spa Terrace (available to Concierge and Suite guests) offers heated loungers, a hydrotherapy pool, plus stunning sea views.

And for the active cruiser, Deck 16 brings pickleball courts, mini-golf, and a jogging track with breathtaking ocean views.

Final Thoughts

As first-time Oceania guests, we were genuinely impressed by Vista’s style, service, and culinary finesse.
Highlights for us included Aquamar Kitchen, Toscana and of course, the Grand Dining Room.

Yes, it can feel a touch crowded during peak hours, but overall, the experience was seamless, elegant, and relaxing.

For anyone seeking a premium cruise that blends luxury with intimacy, Oceania Vista is a voyage we can wholeheartedly recommend.

Ratings & Our Opinions

Oceania Vista - Our Opinion

(4/5)
We loved our Oceania cruise experience on Vista, and in many cases, it exceeded our expectations. This ship was beautiful with stunning interiors and a relaxed, modern feel about it. The food was generally excellent and always served to a very high standard. We had a premium drinks package and found the wines to be okay, but we felt the choice was quite limited.

Oceania Cruises suggests they have the 'Finest Cuisine at Sea', but we were not really convinced about this. The food was very good, but not the best we have experienced at sea. We would agree that they have 'some' of the Finest Cuisine at Sea, but some dining venues were average and difficult to get a reservation. Our standout choices for dining were Toscana, The Grand Dining Room and Aquamar Kitchen.
