Firstly, as per maritime tradition the welding of a mint coin to the hull of the ship a a sign of good luck both during the build and to the passengers and crew during her travels was surpassed as Silversea chose to weld not one, but eight coins to the ship.
Welding of Coins to the Hull
The Seven coins – an Australian Dollar , a South African Rand, a US Half Dollar, a Brazilian Real, a Singaporean Dollar, an Italian Euro, and an Antarctica Trust coin representing the seven continents that Silversea sails to. Another exclusive touch whereby a solid silver commemorative coin, specifically created and minted for the event, was also included as part of the ceremony.
Milestone number 2 was the placing of the hull in the dry construction dock. This signifies the beginning of the creation of Silver Muse into the beautiful flagship she will surely become.
Silver Muse is due to set sail in May 2017. At 40,700 grt Silver Muse will accommodate 596 guests, representing an exciting evolution of Silver Spirit that will redefine ultra-luxury ocean travel, enhancing the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodations that are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience.
The addition of the new Silver Muse cruise ship will expand Silversea’s fleet to nine ships, and will is sure to significantly raise the bar in the high end ultra-luxury cruise market with a wealth of enhancements to the on-board experience, while satisfying the uncompromising requirements for comfort, service, and quality of the world’s most discerning travellers.
