About Our Cruise Comparison Calculator
A lower headline fare doesn't always mean a cheaper cruise. Business class flights, a premium drinks package, unlimited shore excursions, specialty dining, WiFi and gratuities all cost real money if you have to buy them separately — so on paper, one sailing can look thousands more expensive than another and still work out about the same per day once you add it all up.
Enter two fares below, tell us what's included on each, and we'll work out the real cost per person, per day.
Luxury Cruise Cost Comparison Calculator
A cheaper-looking fare isn't always the better deal. Enter two sailings side by side, tell us what's included, and we'll work out the real cost once flights, drinks, dining, WiFi, gratuities and excursions are factored in.

How We Calculate This
This isn't live pricing — it starts from typical market rates for the extras cruise lines often bundle in (business class flights, drinks packages, shore excursions, WiFi, gratuities, transfers and specialty dining), then lets you override every figure to match your actual quote.
I've set the defaults from what I'd expect to pay booking each of those separately, but inclusions vary by line, itinerary and season, so treat the starting numbers as a sensible baseline, not gospel. The only comparison that really matters is between two specific quotes for two specific cabins on two specific dates — this calculator just makes that comparison honest.
If you're comparing a genuinely all-inclusive sailing, just tick every box and pick the matching tier on each dropdown — you don't need to look anything up, the defaults are there for exactly that. Ticking everything can drop the effective daily cost a long way below the headline fare. That's not a glitch: it's the whole point of the tool. It just means almost everything you'd otherwise pay for on the day is already baked into the price you paid up front.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do two similarly priced cruises end up costing so differently per day?
Because the sticker price rarely tells the whole story. One line's fare might already include things you'd otherwise pay for separately — flights, drinks, excursions — while the other charges for all of it à la carte. Once you value those inclusions in cash terms, the gap between two fares can shrink, disappear, or even flip.
What's usually included on ultra-luxury lines like Regent, Seabourn or Silversea, compared with premium lines like Cunard or Oceania?
Ultra-luxury lines lean toward all-in fares — often bundling business class air on longer sailings, unlimited shore excursions, a full open bar, WiFi, gratuities and at least one specialty restaurant. Premium lines tend to include less as standard, with drinks, excursions, WiFi and gratuities typically sold as optional packages or extras. Neither approach is “better” — it just changes how much of the headline fare is genuinely all-in.
Does this calculator account for cabin category, itinerary length or season?
Not directly. You enter the actual fare for the cabin and dates you're comparing, so those variables are already baked into the numbers you type in. The calculator's job is just to value what's included on top of that fare, not to compare cabin categories or itineraries against each other.
Are the default values accurate for every cruise line?
No — they're realistic starting estimates, not published rates. Drinks package value, excursion credit, flight cost and so on all vary by route, season and cabin class. Adjust every field to match what's actually quoted for your two sailings and the comparison will be accurate. The defaults are just there so the tool isn't blank when you land on it.
Should I trust the effective daily cost over the headline fare when deciding which cruise to book?
It's one useful lens, not the whole decision. The effective daily cost tells you what you're really paying once inclusions are valued in cash terms — but it doesn't capture things like ship size, itinerary appeal, cabin quality or onboard atmosphere, all of which matter just as much as the number. Use it to sanity-check a fare comparison, not to replace your own judgement about which cruise you'd actually enjoy more.
